9 years ago you were born. You came to us in a flurry of activity and urgency. Your heart stopped for a brief moment as you tangled yourself in the cord that connected us and these days my heart stops as I see your flurry of 9 year old activity and I wait to jump in and help if you get in a tangle again.
The doctors and nurses worked quickly to rush us to the operation room and rescue you. You came out pink, loud, and screaming. Daddy took you into his arms and sang the song he'd been singing to you for 9 months. You gazed up at him, your crying ceased, and your breathing became calm and steady. Daddy brought you to me and I forgot how to breathe...you were the most beautiful sight.
9 years later you still take my breath away.
