I am not trying to be Betty Crocker or even The Pioneer Woman (even though I wish I was PW), but I found an awesome cake to make for Abby's b-day. I think I am pretty good at a lot of things, but baking IS NOT ONE OF THEM! Still, I was pretty proud of the way this turned out.
First I just started with regular old Betty Crocker cake batter..well not old cake batter, but fresh cake batter I just made. I used Betty cuz she does it better than I do. I used SuperMoist White. Then I divided the batter into 6 equal parts and added gel colors to each bowl of batter. I used gel colors because they are thicker and more vibrant. Regular food coloring would water it down.
Mixing these colors reminded me of my days of hs/college art classes and made me want to break out my acrylics and gloss medium and paint again.
Then I placed the batter in round pans in concentric circles in the order of Roy G BIV. If I make this cake again I will just put the ROY in one pan and the GBIV in the other pan. This was too pyschedelic.
Then I decorated the outside. It matches her personality..pretty, sweet, and feminine on the outside and colorful, creative, and wild on the inside...my girl.
Ignore the bra straps...I am too lazy to photo shop them out.
Here is what we got when we cut it open....Warning: Do not be alarmed the next day when you change your child's diaper and it's contents are the same EXACT color as the cake...I'm not kidding...it freaked me out for a second until I remembered about the cake. Mmmmmmm, I bet you are really hungry for cake now that I have started talking about baby poo.
OH MY GOODNESS...you crack me up. You are such a FUN mom!!
