As someone who photographs people for a job, I sometimes forget to just take photos for me. I decided to take a fun little workshop called Picture Spring by the incredibly talented Tracey Clark who is also the founder of the great Shutter Sisters. I think this workshop was meant for someone like me. It encourages and challenges you to take photos of simple things in your daily life you might miss during the hustle and bustle.
Tracey challenged us to take a picure that showed 'beginnings'.
I call mine "Beginning Woman"
As I was cleaning my daughter's room, I glanced at her dresser and my heart suddenly felt ...I don't know...squeezed. Although she is still very much a little girl, she is so obviously on the cusp of womanhood. The contents of the top of her dresser clearly illustrated this to me.
Dolls and Webkinz intermixed with lipgloss and deoderant. Is it possible for your heart to leap with joy while breaking a little bit too? I think mine just did.
I'm so glad you decided to take this class, what a wonderful memory you just created for yourself. It's obvious what a terrific mother you are and my day is better just from having stopped by :) Finally got around to adding you to my feeds. So glad I did, see you soon

Of course I saw that photo first and I assumed that that was YOUR dresser. I was sorta impressed! :)

Stephanie I love this photo and I love that you thought of it! So very special. I took mine late yesterday afternoon and then went out for the evening. I'll upload it today with the new one! Fun project!

It is most definitely possible. I actually took a photo like this recently because my daughter has commandeered the bathroom sink for her collection of hair and face potions and implements. Hair dryers, hair straighteners; I remember the time not SO long ago when I couldn't get her to brush her hair! She is 14 though so the stuffed toys are gone. They haven't gone far though, they're up the top of her wardrobe. I wasn't allowed to give them away.....:-)

This is SUCH a fabulous photo, and I love how you've documented it's meaning to you. I know that someday soon (sooner than I'm ready) my little girl will be on the brink of womanhood herself. The thought just squeezes my heart in two. ((hugs))
(Just stopping by from class.)
